Winners of the Macoupin County
Anti-Meth Coalition Poster Contest
The Macoupin County winner was
8th grader Christine B who won 3rd place. School winners
included 7th grade student Mackenzie S and Sophomore Rebecca
V. The winners and their families are invited to a pizza
party to receive their awards and personal recognition from
Senator Deanna Demuzio on Jan 7th at 6 pm at the U of I
Extension Office in Carlinville.

School Messenger Notification
System
Beginning this year, the Virden
School District will be using a telephone alert system
called School Messenger. This system is used to
notify each household via a recorded message of a school
closing due to inclement weather or other school
emergency. It is very important to provide a telephone
number to the office of your child. On Thursday, Oct 9th
at 3:00 p.m., a test of this system will be done. If you
have provided a telephone number to the office and do not
receive a call, please contact the office of your child.

The Virden Sports Boosters are
looking for anyone interested in becoming a Sports Booster
member or helpful volunteers. The Sports Boosters have a lot
of new things happening this coming year and would love to
have more members. A few of the latest accomplishments
are-Helped to buy new lockers for the boy's locker room,
Paying for several sports banquets, Painting the bleachers
