Foundation Activities:

Adopt-A-Classroom--Individuals may adopt a specific classroom or make a general donation to assist the classroom teachers with their needs. Amounts are accepted at the $25, $50, $75 or $100 level or in other amounts. Funds go directly to classroom expenses.

Trivia Night!-October 6th--Enjoy a fun-filled evening of active competition as you show your knowledge of trivia. A special silent auction of "baskets of goodies" will be held with funds going towards foundation scholarships and grants for students and staff.

An Evening With the Foundation--Plan on enjoying a semi-formal evening with a delicious meal and auction of items from local artisans. The exact date will be announced soon!

The Foundation

The Virden Board of Education has created a Virden Schools' Foundation through the State of Illinois. This foundation will serve as a vehicle for individuals and/or corporations to make charitable/tax deductible contributions to the district. We have elected to initially create seven divisions to which contributions can be made. The divisions are: Athletics (6-12 male and female sports teams), Fine Arts (K-12 art and music programs), Elementary School (K-5 instructional and media supplies, field trips and capital outlay), Scholarships (for graduating seniors), Technology (computer hardware & software, or other high tech items), and Undesignated (if you do not wish to designate a specific area). For more than 80 years, the students, faculty, staff and parents of the Virden Community Unit School District Number 4 have been an integral part of the local community. Graduates of the school system have gone on to pursue additional education, business careers, and military service. Many graduates have given and are giving back to the area through participation as community volunteers.

    Today, more than ever before, decreasing resources, rising costs and ever-growing needs are presenting unprecedented challenges.

    The Foundation allows graduates of Virden High School, other individuals, and businesses to make charitable, tax deductible contributions to our school district.

 You may choose to donate to a specific program as listed or you may designate your own. The only requirement is that the designated donation be for a program or activity directly connected with the school district.

    No contribution is too small and all are greatly appreciated. To make a contribution, fill out the information on the donation form and mail it along with your check to: The Virden Schools' Foundation at 231 West Fortune Street, Virden, Illinois 62690 or mail it to one of the Directors.
